I read this story months ago too, it's like they are all being recycled by some anti-croc lobby. The original story I read said that it's not just crocs that are the problem, long loose jeans or any loose shoes like flip-flips can get caught too. My daughter got her trainer stuck in an escalator years ago when her shoelace got trapped. All these people were trying to get off the escalator and we were stuck there with her foot being pulled towards the gap at the top. It came loose just before I pulled her foot out of the trainer - it was probably seconds but it felt like ages! In my opinion, the problem is with escalators, not with crocs.
